This episode features Van Sturgeon.
Van has spent years as a General Contractor building apartment complexes, neighborhood subdivisions, single family homes, and more. Now he goes around sharing a message that would have put his previous self out of work! He’s a strong advocate of investors being their own General Contractor!
This isn’t a strategy you hear often, as most of the time it’s advised to put the right professionals in place to do the work they have experience in. That can often still be the right solve, but Van believes that actually much of the time investors are selling themselves short of what they’re capable of, and losing a lot of margin on their rehab projects in the process!
Not everyone would agree this approach, but I loved how Van laid it out and shared his perspective on how this could be a legitimate strategy for investors who want to squeeze more profit out of their projects, and learn valuable skillsets in the process.
I hope that in this interview you find practical insights that you can learn from, or directly apply as you continue on your own journey in Real Estate.
I hope you enjoy my conversation with Van!
